History

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education Australia (ISSEA) was established in 1998 with the appointment of Dr Pal Dhall as the Director. Dr Dhall, along with Dr. Tehseen Dhall, established numerous programmes for teachers, teacher educators, parents and the general community.

Sathya Sai Education has been practiced around the world since the 1970s through many Sathya Sai Schools, together with a network of Sathya Sai Institutes established to promote and support the goals and aims of Sathya Sai Education with particular attention to teacher training. The Sathya Sai Schools and universities are renowned for their academic excellence and high moral and ethical standards.


In 2015 the ISSEA was restructured to improve its governance structure. It adopted a non-profit limited liability company constitution with a board of directors and Associate Professor Roger Packham was appointed as Director. Associate Professor (Siva) Muttucumaru Sivakumar was Director from 2019 to 2020.

Dr Dhall continues his international role as Chair of the Education Committee, which supports research and development in SSEHV worldwide.

Development of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values Program

The development of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values Program for parents through an International workshop on values parenting for trainers in Prashanti Nilayam, India, in 1999, attended by 450 delegates from around the world. Books were published by ISSE, Australia, as a resource. These books have been translated into several languages. Subsequent workshops on SSEHV for Parents and training workshops for facilitators were held in many countries in addition to Australia-New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonasia, Taiwan, Thailand, Malasia and Canada.

Parenting workshops were developed by the Sathya Sai School, Murwillubah, Australia, with the aim of introducing SSEHV concepts to the parents of all children at the Sathya Sai School, so these ideas can be re-enforced at home.

ISSEA at ABORIGINAL PRIMARY SCHOOL, Cherbourg, Queensland

ISSEA Introduced SSEHV into an all Aboriginal State Primary School in Cherbourg. Queensland in the early 2000’s.

ISSEA undertook the Sathya Sai U-Tum Project which ran in Gympie, Queensland from 2000-2010 under its fold as this was all based on taking EHV to the community.

UN-HABITAT

ISSEA undertook the Sathya Sai U-Turn project which ran n Gympie, Queensland from 2000 to 2010 under its fold as this was all based on taking EHV to the community.

UNIVERSITY OF GOROKA, PAPUA NEW GUINEA

ISSEA hosted a 5-day workshop for the heads of the departments in the University of GOROKA, Papua New Guinea. In June of 2001. Following this workshop, the university of Goroka adopted Values Education Program for training teachers throughout the country.

Sathya Sai U-Turn

ISSEA undertook the Sathya Sai U-Turn Project which ran in Gympie, Queensland from 2000-2010 under its fold as this was all based on taking EHV to the community-See completed projects section.

For 10 years the ISSEA was involved in the adjudication of an annually held Orotorical Contest on Human Values in the Australian National University. The contest was open to all undergraduates of the university. It was sponsored by the Lions Club of Canberra
